Spring Sun Outages

Spring Sun Outages

sun outage tv serviceFebruary 23, 2017 – For a two-week period in both the spring and fall, you may experience some degree of video interference on our TV service due to a natural phenomena known as a “Sun Outage”.  Sun Outages happen twice a year when a satellite and a receiving earth station come directly in line with the sun near the spring and fall equinox. The energy from the sun interferes with the satellite’s signal and causes a loss in transmission signals. Television service may be affected for a few minutes, after which normal transmission and viewing will resume. Please see the chart below for dates and times you TV service may be impacted. If you see an outage during the below noted times, we advise you wait approximately 5 minutes before reporting a service outage to us to see if it restores on it’s own. In addition, if the video comes back with audio missing, please notify us, as we may need to re-groom the feed or reboot the satellite receiver.

To report a service outage, please use a contact method on our Support Page.
